Melissa McWalter Ellse is a music therapist and a performing musician, holding a BMus from the University of Cape Town and a MMus (cum laude) in Music Therapy from the University of Pretoria. She performs on the harp in and around Cape Town. She is currently training in advanced studies through the European Graduate School in Switzerland, toward a doctorate in Expressive Arts. She is passionate about the power of imagination and is interested in how the expressive arts and mythology, symbolism and story intersect.
Melissa has worked with individuals and groups in a range of settings as a music therapist. She is currently seeing clients in private practice as well as at Groote Schuur Hospital. Melissa also works with groups in corporates, schools and non-profits using expressive arts, arts-based learning and music therapy techniques in order to enhance creativity, promote collaboration and team-building, as well as facilitate stress-management and self-care.
